What is the operation of net metering with PSE&G?

PSE&G, also known as Public Service Enterprise Group, is a reputable electric utility company established in 1903, serving customers in New Jersey. They offer net metering services within specific regions of their service area. If your home meets the requirements, you have the chance to connect your solar system to their power grid by following their prescribed procedures. Net metering is a requirement mandated by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities for all utility companies, allowing solar system owners to earn credits for any excess energy produced by their systems.

What is PSE&G's policy regarding net metering capacity?

PSE&G does not impose a restriction on the total number of systems eligible for participation in net metering. However, each system must be sized appropriately to prevent the generation of excess energy beyond your annual energy needs.

What occurs with my PSE&G net metering bill credits?

Any surplus energy generated by your solar system is credited to your account at the retail rate. Consequently, you'll receive credits corresponding to the excess kWh produced and the retail price prevailing at the time of production. These credits can cover up to 100% of your electricity consumption. However, at the end of the year, any remaining excess credits will be credited at the wholesale rate (Locational Marginal Pricing) rather than the full retail credit. It's important to note that the capacity of your system must not exceed your annual electricity requirements.
